We believe white educators must practice critical reflection.
It will be challenging, messy, and incomplete.
Much of it can happen in paper notebooks, smartphone apps, and scribbled on the backs of receipts.
Our hope is that providing a place for white educators to share some of these reflections and for others to respond publicly will lead to more writing and more dialogue.

We want to let the essays in the book breathe for a bit. Once they have been in the world for a little while, we’ll start posting some of the submissions we received that could not be included in print, as well as pieces from readers who feel moved to write their own essays after reading those in the book.
